Holy f*** I just saw some manga panels of Boruto & that s*** just became 100x darker than even Naruto Shippuden
like this is some NEXT level s***
Crazy to see how many people jumping back on the bandwagon now that they see Boruto’s gonna be better than even Shippuden
Boruto has too many issues to be better than Shippuden pre-Kaguya IMO
I think if Kishimoto wrote it himself from the startsome of these issues could have been avoided, but IMO power creep is a huge issue in Boruto. It goes against a lot of the precedents that Kishimoto set in Naruto and I really was not vibing.

It is actually so insanely good. I'm interested to see how the rest of the year plays out and if anything can come up to challenge it.

Well I’d still say AOT Final Season will end up being anime of the year
But yeah currently this is 2nd for me and honestly I can see this end up being one of the best anime originals oat.
Would be insane if we get something surpassing this later on this year though.
Didn’t know Steins;gate had some influence from NHK lol.
!https://youtu.be/hHs5AjAvFoAI love the opening a lot
I think Yamazaki has got to be one of the funniest characters I’ve ever seen in any show and he’s not even intentionally trying to be funny. Just his reactions and voice acting crack me up
I don’t think it’s confirmed I just think the characters are too similar for it not to be influenced

real
Reading HunterxHunter and its pretty crazy how Togashi's art can be so simple and scribbly most of the time and then he pulls out crazy detailed drawn panels, it can change the mood right away
finally finishing up Demon Slayer after stopping 10 episodes in a few months ago.
it gets better around halfway through the season tho, and all the spider fights were so f***ing sick
is that kiryu in odd taxi lmao

JJK has a sketch book type of style too like hxh but both have a great way of storytelling and using that style to their benefit
berserk on the other hand while being a 10/10 manga sometimes is too detailed you almost get lost
unpopular opinion but w/e
shot of the year

where's that from??
edit: nvrmnd its vivy ...damn i need to watch that
TW suicide
Wonder Egg Priority
WEP is an anime with great promise and a bittersweet ending.
It's about a girl, Ai, who tries to save her friend who committed suicide. So she is sent to a dream reality where she saves other girls who committed suicide from their own demons. Every girl she saves is a step closer to saving her friend.
I came for this exciting and horrifying premise and stayed for the relationship between the main characters. They are all girls trying to save their friend who committed suicide. Each one of them is developed, has a dark past and their own reasons to fight for.
Their friendship gave a wholesome, sweet vibe to an otherwise hard to watch anime. They help and support each other (like Rika calls it "group therapy") and their friendship seems genuine and real. Kudos to the anime's writing.
The writing is also very respectful of hard themes to tackle like depression, trauma and suicide, specifically of girls. It's feminine and asks questions about why girls would kill themselves. It's interesting to see which demons they show for each girl, and hear conversations about it among the main characters. It's not really used for shock value or dramatization like in other anime. It's actually genuine and real.
Spoiler talk:
Let's talk about the elephant in the room: the ending. I know it hasn't ended just yet and there's a movie coming, but I didn't like the weird turn they took in the final two episodes.
Episode 11, which shows the back story of the WEP project, undermines the previous episodes because it implies that these girls kill themselves because they were influenced to, and not because of the real life reasons that show in their dream sequences.
This episode is also a weird turn of events because it gives exposition about a story that up until now, wasn't the main focus of the anime. The main focus was Ai's process and the mystery behind Koito's death.
Episode 12 shows Ai dealing with her own suicidal tendencies which is great, but also felt like a silly episode. She battles Mr. Sawaki, who is exaggerated to be a scary demon just like every demon in these dreams. But to our knowledge, he's really nice in real life. What does this mean about other people the demons were based off?
We also didn't get much closure, apart from Ai's development. Koito's suicide is still an unanswered question (which is disappointing). Ai wants to fight the God of death or something, even though she now wants to live more than ever (so why risk your life?).
Another question is what is the point of "saving" their friends, if they just revived and disappeared one second later. What exactly happened? What does it mean? How are they saved now more than before? Was it all pointless?
And questioning if the entire anime was pointless just because of the ending, makes me feel very unsatisfied. It's pretty much an Evangelion tier ending that I don't know how to feel about.
Up until this point the anime was really promising. Episodes 1-10 (minus the recap and last scene of episode 10) were great but this kind of plot really depends on the ending.
For now I'll give it a positive rating. I think WEP is very unique and interesting and has more good qualities than bad qualities in it. But the ending gave me mixed feelings so I'll have to think about it.
