I’ll address your points:

1) my point is, a lot of anime, if not most, is made for the sole purpose of MARKETING something else. This actually is a good thing for the quality of anime because that means there aren’t expectations for it to click with some target group or to play it safe and generally the budget is low enough that the small in house studios can generally do whatever they want creatively with it.

2. As for your point about 95% of the season being garbage, this has always been true, since the inception of the industry. Matter of fact, this is true about every art form since the history of the world. Most of what comes out is going to be mediocre or not memorable. It’s really that 5% you hold out for. If you can get 20-30 truly great shows a year, that is insane from an art form. We’re not even getting 20-30 great movies a year from Hollywood, let alone from any country despite way more financial support being given to those who work in those industries. The truth is even if you let creatives be completely free and do what they wanted, there is zero guarantee what they make will actually be good. In fact, it’ll probably suck. The difference is that if you start corporatizing the industry and making anime for the sake of ITS OWN profits, that 5% will disappear as well. This leads to my next point

3) No. Paying animators and making it a lucrative job is not going to improve the quality of an anime. First off, to pay animators, the industry would need to be making so much money that every studio can afford to double or triple their staff and then put in even more money to give their animators more wages. Now If that happened, the animators aren’t going to be the first priority. The first priority is going to go to hiring producers, creators, people in suits to figure out how to make the most money you can. The job of an animator is treated right now as something they do for fun and because they love doing it that they would want to do nothing else. When you treat it like a real profession, you remove the passion from it and make it about doing what some guy in a suit is telling you to do. I don’t necessarily think animators don’t deserve more money, but if the system went to that, it will be because the state of the industry has become so corporate that simply making something acceptable is enough.

So yes, if we paid animators more, we will get less train wrecks or colossal failures. But we’re also going to get less of anime like Vivy or Made in Abyss or Sarazanmai because when something becomes that corporate, there is zero reason to put more effort than what is expected and as a result investing in something that isn’t a sure fire profitable idea, which Sarazanmai and Vivy sure as hell aren’t.

The industry is already corporatized. The production committees want every penny possible that they can squeeze from every channel possible. Anime productions are too closely intertwined to other channels like merch, character songs, figurines, etc, to be worried about some boogeyman concept of companies wanting anime to be profitable on their own. It is already coporatized to hell and back and we still have our 5% of creativity.

They already are being told by suits what to do. These anime are only getting funded because production committees are the ones contracting these studios to make their anime. Do studios have "creative freedom" once they are contracted an anime? Sure, with some conditions like "the anime should cover this amount of source material," but I hardly consider that actual creative freedom because ultimately, the foundation of what they are making has been given to them by a production committee that concluded that anime is what will make them the most money through various channels. True creative freedom where non-production committee creators come up with an idea and get approval from a production committee for funding is practically non-existent.

I agree with you that the isekai s*** is mostly like that, however you’re going to see the same thing happen for most of the quality shows we get as well, if they even get made when the industry becomes as corporate as Netflix and Amazon want it to become

I thought Hige Hiro was actually pretty well done until they got to her backstory and the mom which just felt extremely manufactured and inauthentic to force a reason for them to stay together

I watched the other grooming show and honestly it wasn't that bad lol. At least the author of the grooming show I watched didn't have to warn their audience that grooming is illegal, so I got the moral high ground on this one.
