Sousou No Frieren
This is one of the best manga I have ever read. It's about a group of heros who just defeated their world's demon king. The main character is an Elf who can live thousands upon thousands of years. She is a mage who was an apprentice of one of, if not the most powerful mage in history. She spent a lot of time in solitude and doesn't understand human's at all or the concept of time. To her 100 years is nothing. But, she witnesses all of her comrades from her journey grow old and die and starts to appreciate life, humans and time. It's incredibly captivating. I would highly recommend everyone to check it out. At least give it 10 chapters because the first five or so are very sad and depressing.
What's your area of specialization?
The Language (Japanese linguistics), but even then my area of study tended to cover it more generally (comparing Japanese linguistics to English linguistics to attempt to diagnose issues that Japanese learners could/should have when learning English, what they should be good at it, ect).

At first I wasn't sure what to think of it. But after about 5 chapters I was hooked. It's genius.

for me it took about 10-15 chapters, around the time stark joins the cast. before that it was a good introduction but just a little too melodramatic for it to stay that way imo. with a great anime adaptation that has the right sound and voice work though this series could really get elevated to the next level

I guess I was just hooked right away. And yes, I pray this gets an anime adaptation. It's pretty epic.
I've been chipping away at Jojo Diamond is Unbreakable over the past month or two and I have to say this is so much better than the whole Egypt arc
