Lupin the Third: Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna - 5/10

I got depressed and deleted my original draft once I realized I was praising this anime for doing bare basic s*** that other anime somehow fail at so here's the short version of some things I noted while watching.

The camera only focuses on Fujiko's body when she is using it as a weapon/tool to get the upper hand over someone, the shots have a narrative purpose. Fujiko controls the camera and decides how she wants to be seen. This is in contrast to shots you see in other anime, where the camera zooms in or pans over the female body regardless of the character's desires, turning them into nothing more than a piece of meat to be displayed. Good job.

Goemon doesn't let Fujiko's openness to sexuality cloud his view of her. Media tends to portray sexually open women as evil, backstabbing, untrustworthy, etc. Goemon is entranced with Fujiko when he meets her while she is disguised as an innocent tutor who is taking care of the royal family's children, but when her true nature is revealed his opinion of her doesn't change. Also good job.

I feel kinda guilty for giving it an average score, because on paper the show is phenomenal and I can't really point out anything it did wrong (hell, I have a hard time pointing out anything it did that was average), but sometimes s*** just doesn't click for you I guess.

Jigokuraku manga colored page from chapter 1 ...unfortunately it does not have a fully colored version like jojo or rurouni kenshin

it's a manga about a shinobi with ''fuzzy'' memories and a wicked bunch of death row convicts along with expendable executioners going in uncharted territory on an isolated island under the shogun's orders to get the fruit of immortality....or so they thought

The art is breathtaking and each character is so well written you will have a different favourite every 5 chapters...the plot is good too without any dull moments.

just finished / caught up to Aria, great series. i was taking it slow at first with like an episode or two a night intermittently, but around 2/3 of the way through Natural something clicked and i just started blasting through that s***. seems like i picked a perfect time to catch up too since i just found out the crepuscolo movie is coming to BD in like a week.

Origination episode 9 was by far my favorite, I had a few contenders beforehand but that episode removed all doubts for me. At first I was actually worried that Origination had been overhyped to me since I thought the first few episodes were some of the weakest in the series (later found out they were anime-original) but yeah the final stretch of it is incredible.

Some other favorites that stick out to me (favorite within season bolded):

Animation: 2, 8, 11-13
Natural: 2, 13, 15, 18, 20-21
Origination: 4, 5, 5.5, 9-13

Good picks. Animation episode 11 is probably my favourite because that was when the series finally clicked thematically for me. Origination episode 9 and Natural episode 5 (the abandoned rail-ray car under the cherry blossom) would probably be my other picks too.

If ever want more, Sato directed another iyashikei Tamayura. I consider its peaks to be just as good, if not better than Aria.

the part of natural episode 5 with the abandoned tram is definitely one of the best moments of the series for sure, agreed with you there, only reason it didnt make it onto my favorites list is because i thought that the first part of the episode with the fox spirit wasnt as good.

noted on tamayura, ill give it a look whenever i wanna get some more of that iyashikei goodness
