NIGGAS DON'T SPEAK MY LANGUAGE
dont tell me lmfaonop is busby big forehead fatass
Nah ain’t no wayyyy
I like how you're still dodging my post about this lol.
Lemme simplify it for you; why would Drake turn to Yeat, Latto, GORDO, Sexxy Redd, thugger and snowd4y for numbers/commercial appeal?
That’s my point too a lot of things he does just don’t make sense if he’s going for commercial appeal and success. He just does what he wants and is successful at it and people tend to conflate the two
Would yall say Drake’s flows on these songs are distinctive to his current era rapping?

Exactly I don't know how people still don't get it. We're talking about an artist with 2 songs with f***ing Smiley of all people lmao

Why do you feel that way imo he’s taken more creative leaps with his music since 2016 reaching into different genres and putting his own twist on them. I don’t think we get too many take care type things but from a lot of his music since then I’ve gotten the opinion he does not care about making things that will win him awards or be praised and prefers to make music he enjoys making and he feels like resonates with him personally and NOT trying to appeal to everyone or make everyone happy because it will always be a losing battle. I think in doing that he’s just continued to become more successful and seen more commercial success because of how candid it is
There’s a way to make commercially appealing music without it sounding low effort though. For the most part, all of his projects past 2016 just sound like he’s going through the motions of different styles and sounds rather than focusing and making an inspired project (which is what he did on Honestly, Nevermind, and why it’s a cult favorite)

How does it “sound low effort” ? And I also don’t think he’s really trying to be super commercially successful. Obviously no artist wants their music to flop but I don’t exactly think he’s trying to be Taylor swift either scorpion CLB and her Loss are some of his most focused projects imo and I don’t even like CLB that much.
KD TEXT ME LIKE WTF WE WAITING ON
Midrick fans new cope soon is gonna be Drake owns all the wedding venues in LA and is blocking little man from booking his big day
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Collabing with Yeat helps him cross over with the younger audience
Latto & Sexyy Red helps him reach some of those modern female fans that he’s lost in recent years
Gordo is a producer, not sure why you always bring him up, but he makes music in the EDM realm and has fans from that space, Drake working with him helps him reach that demographic
Thug gives him the street fans he’s always made it a point to have
And Snowd4y I’ll give you but that was a borderline joke song released only on SoundCloud

There are numerous post-2016 Drake album cuts I can point to that just sound very low effort to me

Why did this post remind me of that one chance the rapper album

Wdym low effort though? Like he wasn’t trying or inspired or like he’s just trying to make a quick hit? Those are two different things

Low effort as in, he doesn’t creatively push himself or challenge himself on the record, and/or it doesn’t sound inspired.
A song like IDGAF for example, that song sounds like it could’ve been made in 15 minutes, and it adds absolutely nothing to For All the Dogs other than attracting young TikTok rap fans

Idk why bro thought he got you with that one
If you can’t see why he works with those artists your a moron
These songs are very high effort
Wonder if he’s gonna drop any true R&B or some moody stuff next on the IG. I know people want the hard stuff but I would love a little of that too

Agreed, they can’t make that “he sounds bored” excuse

I can see that but I also don’t think he has to do that on every track, part of drakes appeal and his fanbase is the fact that he just makes fun enjoyable music and I think in between tracks like that we also get tracks where he does push himself and try to do something different and it balances out especially on a larger project level. Him trying to constantly outdo himself every track would lead to being just as empty and burn out
