I’d say about the same, I know dropping on Ig first puts it at a disadvantage but the fact is, it’s Drake, it gets promoted on social media regardless and millions of people are aware he’s dropped.

I think the factors for that drop that were a lot different than now. He was probably at his most liked since summer 15/16. He was on a crazy run with DLDT, LNCL, No Guidance, Greece, Popstar and he had the Nike campaign attached to Scary Hours 2

"same vocal style as always" is generational hating lol cause it's flat out wrong, there's at least 3 songs on HNVM with vocals that you wont find anything close on CLB/Scorpion/Views. Even crazier because Kendrick's vocals on TPAB are way closer to GKMC than Drake's on HNVM compared to CLB etc

I agree in terms of the gap/risk it was a bigger risk for Kendrick though, my point is in terms of sound it was a massive departure for Drake & it's why so many hated it. I don't remember seeing a superstar artist have an album get so panned by so many of their fans in the last 10+ years honestly, there's a reason for that
