is it just me or do us remakes get less and less popular? At least with the audience reception and critics. Remaking a succesful international movie seems more risky these days idk

Hit or miss lately. The Intouchables remake with Kevin Hart was a hit. Force Majeure remake with Will Ferrell was a flop.

i mean how do you define risky role pick? Like yeah there is overlap in the performances he does, but going from Howard Hughes to Jordan Belfort to Hugh Glass to Calvin Candie is certainly a lot of range in terms of the type of characters he gets and the different settings, styles, personalities he has had to adapt such as going from playing an anti hero to a silent protagonist to a racist villain in completely different backdrops.

like idk how u can say he doesnt take risks lol. He doesn't have the range of a Daniel Day Lewis or hell even Tom Cruise, but he definitely has tried a lot of crazy s*** in acting, from the improv acting and literal physical acting in WOWS (and The Revenant) to trying the south african accent in Blood Diamond.
