Scorsese’s tentatively titled “Midnight Vendetta,” which just had its script submitted by the great Eric Roth (“The Insider,” “Munich”), will tackle the Mafia’s arrival in New Orleans around 1890, which marked the first major foothold of organized Italian crime in the United States.

Sicilian immigrants, many fleeing poverty and violence back home, settled in the city’s port neighborhoods, bringing with them old-world networks and rivalries. Tensions quickly escalated between local authorities and the growing Italian community, culminating in the infamous murder of Police Chief David Hennessy in 1890.

On paper, I want this more than that The Rock crime film set in Hawaii, and ofc the Jesus movie.

But I also not sure how I feel about Marty doing another mafia movie. Irishman (and even flower moon in a way) felt like a great send off and final statement on it.

Thematically this could be a similarly great send off, by ending his mafia movie offerings with a movie about the very beginnings of Italian crime in the late 1800s, but I still feel like Irishman was a great place to leave it.

Of all the rumoured movies, I kinda want the rumoured Scorsese/Leo shipwreck movie the most. The synopsis of the book it is based on:

‘The British naval ship the Wager is wrecked on a desolate island off the tip of South America in 1740. The captain and crew struggle to survive and maintain order while battling extreme weather and their own human nature’

As long as there’s no DeNiro or Pesci, I’m in.

Agree wit this 100%. A mafia Scorsese movie is always welcomed but kinda wanna see him switch it back up again.

My top 2 is the shipwreck movie and “home”

I mean in for anything he does but realistically he has 1 maybeee 2 movies left in him

My personal favs on his maybe lists are the Sinatra movie (Nancy will never let it happen) and there was a rumored Theodore Roosevelt movie a few years back.

Yup, I want the shipwreck movie. But I’d even take The Rock movie over this new rumored one,

2019-2023 is a 4 year gap. He used that time to make another epic (Killers) after making a previous epic (Irishman). Which of course had covid slowing s*** down, he took 3 years to make Irishman.

Since we talking small scale and not epics let’s cut that in half:

2026 Movie 1
2028 movie 2
2030 movie 3
2033 movie 4 (I’ll throw him an extra year)

2033 he’ll be 91. Clint still making movies at 94. So very plausible.

So, I just finished a script about the mafia coming to New Orleans in 1890, I’m doing it for Marty … I’m interested in vengeance and what it means. This thing I’m writing for Marty right now is about what we were brought up to be we end up being in a way. These people were brought up in 1860-1870 Sicily. They were part of this mafia, and they continued on … I have this scene where our hero — I’m not sure if he’s actually heroic — but anyway the lead of our film wants vengeance on the rival Don, and he comes sneaking into an Opera, while the Opera is going, and slits the throat of his enemy.
