If there was another form of life able to make it to Earth they are clearly advanced well beyond us and there is really nothing the government could do to conceal that happening from the public. As if they would be able to capture, stop, etc them

It’s not that I even think aliens/other life is fake but why are people under the impression if they were powerful enough and had enough technology to visit us from other galaxies (something humans cannot do) that the government would be equipped to “stop” them and hide them from the public

I don't think that's what anybody is saying. It's more like UFOs have already been seen and the government has been hiding it after the fact. Stopping aliens is one thing but stopping your citizens from talking about what they've seen isn't that farfetched
