watched this tonight, R Pats really is just building a solid resume at this point. Holland was good too.
Kinda felt like a religious version of The Place Beyond the Pines tho. Ending should've hit a little harder too
R Patts has had a solid resume already. Adding this, The Batman, and Tenet to his plate is just icing on the cake at this point.

I don't know why people aren't realizing this.
Pattinson has been good in everything he's in passed the first Twilight.

The King. Him and Timothy were amazing in it. Also on Netflix

still need to watch this
eh, it was alright. performances were good, esp from pattinson, holland, and skarsgard, but the characters themselves seemed half baked
narration was also lame
What’s with the negative reviews on this? I thought it was pretty good. The story pulled me in and the performances were great. Good stuff.
haha imagine if Freeman actually narrated this
After seeing the finished product, Pollock wondered why they didn’t choose a more polished voice for the film, like Morgan Freeman. Still, he’s impressed with what the filmmakers have accomplished.

It’s not a bad movie, performances are great with Holland and Pattison as highlights, Skarsgard is good as well.
The biggest drawback from me personally is that the story felt very bare, like i’m sure it works nice in a book format but it’s just haven’t got the right time to probably explore the events unfolding and it’s just meshes together instead of blending dynamically.
Fx the end showdown felt lackluster to me compared to the church scene where you can feel tension arise because that’s a pretty straightforward story arc with a build up between characters but the end have multiple story ends that feels like they concidentally lines up without really furthering the story much by the end of it.
feel like this would’ve worked better as a miniseries with 4/5 episodes, too many pieces were compressed into a two hour movie and that way they could do without the narration

This definitely crossed my mind given just how much there is, but I think it was edited and shot like a movie. It was just long. Maybe cut out some of the cop's storyline to condense it.
3/5
Review here.
the novelist was also the narrator
is that why he was so opinionated?
sounded like Billy Bob Thornton lol

you know...I didn't think about the Place Behind the Pines comparison but you're absolutely right
Dude's trying to get people to shut tf up with their worries about him being Batman
And it's working.
