Small government can be good but the issues that American libertarians target show their hand

yeah I mean the reason like 95% of libertarianism doesnt really work is because they expect like a complete alternate reality where history just didnt happen. like so many of them just expect that if you just got rid of government tomorrow the entirety of human history leading up to that point would just magically disappear as well. theres some weird post-modernist element to it which is ironic because all of them (except maybe like super hardcore ancaps) would deny that since they worship ayn rand and objectivism.

aren’t Libertarians the guys who get mad at the government for setting a minimum age of consent?

I don’t know their argument on the subject, but this sounds like an intentionally reductive way of explaining what they believe.

Crazy thing is it’s not like the events that show you the downsides of complete deregulation were that long ago. We had child factory workers in the US less than 100 years ago

    Look it up for 2020
This still happens today in Bangladesh, Vietnam, India, Mexico, etc because of the US exporting their child labor

And obviously that’s wrong too, but is the answer to that really to bring it back in the US?

Yeah that's definitely true but I don't even mean it like that. Like one big argument libertarians make is that their ideology is "holistic" in the sense of it works simply because other competing standards don't exist. Like yeah if we abolish labor laws it's fine because you can just get a job elsewhere and thus compete, and if we abolish education it's fine because education will no longer be institutional and thus needed to live since alternatives will simply exist outside of a societal standard. But if we abolish education and labor laws tomorrow it doesn't get rid of the actual f***ing multinational conglomerates and societal establishment of infrastructures and the like. So it's like, that clearly is just bullshit unless we lived in a parallel timeline which had the "foresight" (in their view) to make those establishments non-existent. But since you can't remove de-pair these (and other similar attributes) from our society, it's like, what do they expect to happen? It's not even like ML-ism where they believe in revolution either, so they have this insane contradictory belief that you can simultaneously strip all establishments and laws to make society better but simultaneously all of the infrastructure and results of such society and establishments will continue to exist fine and dandy w/o issue

    Yeah.

They never really have that Energy IRL, unless they’re in groups. That’s why I’m good faith I could never call my self or get into socialism.

It’s honestly the newer generation that does a lot of backwards f*** s***.
