whenever i am in family dollar i always feel like they must be closing or something but they always stay open
Keep track of all the s***ty spots, and try to avoid them as much as you can. Worst part of the job is dealing with restaurants that don't respect your time and hustle.
Over time you get a good sense of gauging whether or not a payout is worth waiting at a s***ty restaurant. Think of it this way, you could take an 11 dollar order that involves 40 minutes of waiting at a restaurant that never has the food done on time and then driving, or take two 7 dollar order from places that are always on point with getting the food ready.
The Chic Fil A in my town always doesn't even prepare the food until I ask them about it, but if it's a 20 dollar order and only a 3-5 mile drive I'll do it. 7 dollars though? Nah.
For the first couple of weeks you should keep accepting (unless it's an absurdly long distance) and getting a good idea of which restaurants might be worth avoiding. If you decline and it's busy you're still gonna get another order soon enough
It's decent as a side hustle, in my old town the busy hours can get me 20 an hour pretty consistently, but it's up to whether or not people are ordering at the end of the day. Also you'll still get taxed on income, they send you a letter in the mail, so keep lookout for that during tax season. You gotta file it yourself, you'll probably wanna do some research on that if you're unfamiliar
You also do gotta take gas into account, and that's different for everyone depending on your car. Make sure you avoid any accidents lmao, that's a given tho.
When you get sent an order it should show a map with the path to the restaurant and then to the house, and also it should say how many miles it is. It could be an 8 mile job but drop off is in an apartment in the middle of the city, or it could be a 4 mile job that takes you out into the suburbs far from any restaurant.

can you see where the person lives before you accept their order? Because im not trying to go thru the hassle of gated communities

You see it dotted on the map, but if you don't know that spot's a gated community you're f***ed. If you got time I guess you could quickly look it up to get an idea where you're going. I spent 20 minutes trying to figure out where the hell that woman's apartment was the first time I got sent to a gated community.
I was also parked in a private lot so I could've gotten towed, but luckily my car was fine by the time I ran back to it
Yeah, they don't count it out when you get paid so around tax season you'll get a letter with a statement for how much you owe, something to keep in mind
I've read about the owner of the Dollar Store company, dude is a scumbag.
He has been quoted saying stuff like 'I rely on poor and stupid people because only poor and stupid people would come do their shopping here'
He makes work conditions terrible on purpose because he doesn't give a f***. I've heard that Dollar Stores are always just barely staffed, mgmt doesn't get overtime despite being over worked, and will often have to work for free. Pretty sure there's never PTO, and you'll never get to work full time because they hire a bunch of people to do small shifts.
Like if you got a long career at the Dollar Store, you aren't doing it right.
Def gonna mass rob the place next time I’m there
Nah you definitely wanna hit as many peak pays as you can, that's when the real money comes in. One night I made $128 in only 3 hours. It also depends on your city tho and how the traffic is, where I live there's only crazy traffic on the highways and some main roads, so most of the time I can doordash without worrying about it
