Was wondering what the best camera would for somebody starting out? Like somewhere around $500 for a DSLR or something like that.
Edit: Bought body only. Need lens recommendations.
I just use my phone. It's really all in the lighting, props, and effects these days anyways

Cool. Ever thought of upgrading your equipment?
You could get a used Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera for around that price (500). I haven't done videography in years though so take my advice with a grain of salt.
If your gonna invest in a camera go big or go home
He’s only starting out, disagree with this. Buy something quality yes but he doesn’t need to overextend himself past a certain price range.
This isn’t your forever camera. It’s the first. And there will be many over the years as you hone your craft.
Carry on with this perspective @op
iPhone camera
Just an iPhone? I am assuming with attached external sound and lenses?

gimbal + tripod
Do you plan on recording audio too? I don’t think you need lenses for an iPhone
Like this one or nah?

Gh5 is a major step up from g7 image and quality wise, def worth the price increase
I have both cameras
spend just as much if not more on lights. LED's if possible. Also get a nice mic
You're not getting a good camera with $500 bucko
don't listen to him OP you have a camera in your pocket right now that's better than any camera from even just 10 years ago.

Thank you for the recommendation. If I may ask, what do you typically shoot?
I would say rent different cameras for different needs, same goes to lenses and other things.
