I can only speak for my experience but the way it worked for me at the place I'd go to was I donate and then the money would get loaded onto a card that I could use places or take to an ATM to get the cash out

All of that was immediate iirc, I'd just wait to let the cash stack a bit before removing because of ATM fees

I had the donation place say my plasma is pretty
