man is living the streets through his fandom

It ain’t even a fandom. The word “opp” started off as some real street s***. It’s weird seeing these rappers with mainly suburban fan bases rapping about they smoking on opps

    this is how language works.

slang is a weird thing. It always moves bottom to top, in terms of social status. The most marginalized and discriminated communities are for whatever reason always the ones creating the slang we use. In America, that means black people, especially black and gay people. usually it moves up the oppression ladder, often pretty neatly which is like super super weird to me but whatever.

look at "tuh". black gay ppl start saying it, it spreads to black women, then black men, then uzi says that s*** on national tv, and now its well on its way to the average American teen's vocabulary

anyway point is, yes ppl not from the community that created a word will probably end up using that word. That is totally ok and normal and is just how language works. It's weird when ppl do it just to present an image, but that's a pretty rare case.

Drake, kanye, carti, and nav all been using opp in their new music and it’s so cringe. When king von or other Chicago drill artists use it, it’s because they actually got enemies in the city that will take their life if they get the chance. These other artists are millionaires living in the hidden hills, who tf y’all opps??
