You ever play mahjong with two people?? I want to learn and play it, but never around four people that know how to play. Like could I buy a set and learn casually by playing with my girl? Lol

i've never played 2-player mahjong, but an immediate problem I can see with it is that the defensive part of the game would be kinda useless. you'd also have to remove certain pieces like chii and pon. it becomes a more predictive game rather than a strategic one.

HOWEVER, I know a lot of people love minefield mahjong, which you can play online here: pwmarcz.pl/minefield. It's not any kind of official ruleset or whatever, but it's based off of riichi rules. if you find it fun, you can buy a set and create a board off the rules listed.
