I gotta Retroid Pocket Pro 4. I love it, and it does exactly what I need. These days I'd say just go for an Ayn Thor Max 16. But if you don't care to do all the setup, and already have an expansive Steam library, just cop a Steam Deck.

The Thor is much more portable and convenient while being able to emulate a bunch of games. The Steam Deck is much more powerful but is bulky as hell and in my opinion is built for more long travel use. It's also more pick up and play due to it being Steam, and all you need to have is your account/library.

Ultimately it all comes down to what you really want to be playing on a portable console. Keep in mind that a 1TB Ayn Thor Max 16 has dual OLED screens and is $579, and the 1TB Steam Deck OLED is $949.

Also I'm pretty sure the Ayn Thor has access to this app that lets you connect to your Steam account and play your library. I can't remember the name of it though. Pretty sure I have it on my Retroid. I just got annoyed trying to set it up because it needs a specific set up for individual games given it doesn't have the right specs for every game. I doubt that the Thor would have to deal with that though because it is much more powerful than a Retroid Pocket Pro 4.
GameNative I think the app is called. If you don't mind configuring it I'd say the Ayn Thor is a perfectly fine handheld to get.

@op Ayn Thor is a pretty perfect device, so long as you don’t mind spending a few hours setting it up, and continuing to tinker with the individual emulators over the next few weeks

Dual OLED screens are gorgeous, plays most Switch games I’ve tried pretty much perfectly (need the pro or max model to run switch games well iirc), no issues with less demanding consoles obviously (ps3 and Xbox/Xbox 360 emulation is still pretty much non-functional on Android, but people are working on it)

You can also plug it into the tv just like a Switch if you wanna do couch co-op (with a usb-hub and usb controllers if you want minimal latency, but I’ve played Mario Wonder with two other players using bluetooth controllers and the latency wasn’t too bad at all)

But yeah I wholeheartedly recommend the Thor

Price is still pretty reasonable all things considered but it’s crazy to see that it’s gone up $130 since I bought

The thor is the best one out and its already collectinng dust on my shelf
