Just a little back story, I got a job fresh out of college that’s basically social work in the mental health field. It’s been pretty decent so far and no big issues, appreciate the emphasis on self care.
So then this pandemic happens, eventually they decide that in order to keep us and immunocompromised or elderly people we meet with safe we’re allowed to work from home by phone.
One week goes by, restrictions in my state are getting even more strict and now they’re sending out schedules about how one of us has to be in the office from each department every day.
They’re trying to spin us as essential employees who provide vital to life services when all the time they emphasize that we’re a voluntary service. I know it’s probably above my head and just a way to secure funding in these times and I do appreciate that we’re open but this change feels so risky.
It seems like so many of the values they’ve promoted have just been 180’d on and all of the indecisiveness is just crazy frustrating.
Just trying to see if this is a common thing going on that anyone else is dealing with.
i've been lurking on subreddits for stuff like this and i've seen a lot of fast food managers be psychos
one tim hortons manager apparently said idc if you got corona you coming in anyways 💀

Before they decided on us working from home, they said that we have to use personal, vacation and any other PTO before we use sick time if we had to close.
My job was like okay we’re going to close for two weeks with no pay SO I got another job 😎

I’ve been reasonable and asking so many questions and our director just sent me the insubordination policy.

Don't fight someone who can't see what they're about to lose.
Leave your job if they don't care about u and your physical and mental health

Yeah it’s a shame.
I’ve been planning on getting my life insurance agent license for a side hustle when I go back to grad school but I might just be pulling that trigger faster now.
It’s very unprecedented times. Trying to navigate this has been pretty difficult for my leadership team.
We are considered essential but do some non essential work as well, which has been shut down. Now we are going to be tasked with difficult decisions of what to do with our employees when the work stops.
Who can we pay, what can we pay, who to lay off, who to keep on. What they can do. And much more.
It’s been a tough week or so. And only going to get worse.
Store closed, getting paid for at least 2 weeks and waiting to see what they decide after that
My job is handling it so sloppy people in the building were exposed and we still gotta go in. All they did were close off a few sections of the building.
Doctor at the hospital had it and came to work anyways. Now they don’t know how many children was exposed
I was asked if I would volunteer to come in if we had a stay at home order
I said what would be the pros and cons of coming in ( basically,am I getting paid extra ????)
She said you would have to decide that for yourself
they just fired everyone in my job , no help , no pay , no nothing - kids don't work in tv shows
