Got my first one coming up this week. Been cooking beats for almost 10 years, I got good trap beats and good sample chop/boom bap type s***. Any tips and info on what to expect?

Only done two. won one and got second to last round in the other one.

Watch beat battle videos on YouTube to know what people react to, but it’s 95% just great drum and bass production. Little fills and fancy transitions, the actual structure of the beat being shocking/engaging (cutting out at moments, drums coming in interestingly)

Also if the time limit is 1 minute, make sure it drops in pretty quickly. People with better beats will end up losing on vibes early if the beat just takes way too long to come in.

But yeah it really is just largely a drum show off competition. If something has bad drums it’ll 100% lose. But it can be lame with confident and showy-offy drums and it’ll win

    Good luck

what are the rules, is it just playing beats or do they have specific genres u gotta do?

i mean id say that the beats u pick for the battle arent necessarily the same beats ud send for placements. its rly about impressing other producers, so id bring out the most technically impressive or creative beat, not necessarily the one ud expect people to rap on

and make sure the intro isnt too long
