Not really. He rapped about wanting all these things and now he has them. Same ole drake
I’m not talking about his approach to hits, obviously he’s always been a commercial results focused artist. But even in SFTB, the excess is like the point lol, he started from the bottom and now he has all this.
This song isn’t even related to that
But he didn’t start at the bottom tho? Do you not remember the jokes when that came out? It seemed contrived then. Drake has always been about appealing to consumers and capitalism, that’s why he’s so huge now. I’m definitely way more of a NWTS/IYRTITL fan but even then it always felt like this. He just hasn’t changed it up
Y’all are just finding any reason to take something away from what Drake is doing. He’s a rapper. Ofc he gonna be on some flashy s*** tryna flex what he has. I don’t see the issue. There are a lot of artists who are way worse in that regard
@op wants Drake to hide his wealth so he doesn’t feel insecure
yall find new things to b**** about everyday
Whole new vid is just display after display of excessive consuming
S*** looks tone deaf in these currents times imo

Don’t project on me, I’m secure in my finances
At the same time, literally millions of people are recently unemployed. Just saying a mountain of Nike bags looks tone deaf in the context of 2020
I mean a big part of rap is all about consumerism isn't it. Before the mob-boss s*** Drake that's what Drake was rapping about the most. So I don't get how it's any different from his older videos where he showed off his car, chains, and house or other rap videos where they do the same.
The transition from ‘album purchases’ to ‘streaming’ & ‘playlists‘ has benefited Drake greatly. I don’t even think Drake would be as popular as he is if it wasn’t for streaming.
There is a reason Drake doesn’t care to make good albums, and why he puts out so many pop singles.
Don’t project on me, I’m secure in my finances
Then you wouldn’t be b****ing about one of the richest rappers flexing in a music video
Not every video Drake makes is going to be God’s Plan

I don’t mean in the sense of him trying to make hits, that’s always been his goal

Drakes whole message is consumerism.
(That’s not to say Kanye isn’t similar with him pushing Yeezy)
