very much
like sports betting is one thing
it's bad but it's always been a thing which in the grand scheme of things isn't the worst
but kalshi and polymarket are a whole other level of evil imo
basically the concept of everything you can think of having a monetary value that can be bet on or traded with?
https://twitter.com/Kalshi/status/1996233186251075862like wtf is this? why is a major news company moving into what is essentially glorified gambling
probably late to this but yeah
money up, this may not be ya buzzness
Yes but there's literally nothing we can do about it because late stage capitalism is in full effect and nothing matters to these people but the almighty dollar and finding a way to suck it from the hands of any living thing (or non-living if they can)
Why can I win or lose money on how much rain New York City will see today
Combination of people loving the thrill of gambling/games of chance, people wanting to make a quick buck

i said it on a previous page but im far passed the delusion this stuff can be reversed, i just hope it can be contained at this point

It's awful the things we let white Americans get away it creating

Something all the way negative is gonna have to happen before we reign this stuff in sadly
that's usually how the world has worked. a lot of things people say are "getting worse" are really just getting back to the way they've worked for most of history in most places around the world
Hate when people say “Most of history” when we had at least a hundred thousand years of primitivism without this post agricultural industrialist bullshit. Nothing about our society is normal nor sustainable
i just don't get it legally speaking. like with gambling you are hypothetically betting on an unknown outcome but here someone with inside knowledge like a member of congress could make bank and there aren't the same protections there are for athletes.
it would be like if MVP voters could bet on MVP
its time to stop being so squeamish about gambling
Nah, I know somebody who killed themselves this year because of gambling.

Gonna be honest. This really isn't a race thing lol. Every dude from 18-65 wants to bet on everything under the sun in America. I've seen jokes since I was 15 about betting on random s***. Now it's real
I think we need more prediction markets not less

sure and just like how my comment semi excluded pre-colonial cultures in North America, they are valuable for understanding "human nature" but less so for contextualizing our current society's past and future.

Yeah but a white man foudned Polymarket and a white woman co-founded Kalshi
Feel like it these weren't white American founded companies they would've been shunned at first and then copied for American gain lol
Idk I'm just over all of this

Idk, Canada airs a s*** ton of commercials for "virtual casinos" and I didnt hear gambling considered a mental health issue til the sportsbooks opened in the US
They should ban sports betting
Use your words plants
i just admire ur optimism is all. i think its gonna get worse before it gets even worse lol

the unknown outcome is def what mfs be chasing
Yeah but were in the capitalism till you die portion of modern history, so you can roll with it or wait for the counter wave.
