Especially with the 80s and 90s since those seem to be the most popular

Like how many times have you seen a 80s or 90s themed music vid, or some rapper wearing 80s or 90s themed clothes? Even in movies you have thousands of soulless remakes of 80s and 90s s*** with bright neon colors, NES, Ninja Turtles, all that consumerist ancient garbage, it's disgusting to look at at this point

Don't you think musicians should work on pushing the envelope forward instead of playing it safe and cashing in on repetitive nostalgia? Discuss

The VHS aesthetic was played out sooo quick.

It can work when done right, Chixtape is a good example at times, but there's a lot of corny attempts at 'throwbacks'.

More artists need to be Rihanna. She looks better, has more money, every man she's been with still lusts over her, and her music fits in ANY era.
