Like looking back, my mom really thought i was just a weirdo or sum cuz i didnt like things kids (at the time) liked. I remember being more into nerdy things and she kept forcing me into sports. I played multiple seasons of football just getting destroyed cuz i didnt know what was going on, i still dont understand football
Or id get yelled at or scolded cuz i would spend money on manga or video games when i was like 12/13 , or just how i wanted to dress or even just grow out my hair, its like i remember one time i managed to grow out my hair without my mom force cutting it and my dad wanted it cuz so she got it cut. ( my dad wasnt even in my life, i saw him like twice a year)
Even when i was making music , even she saw me getting in with labels and she still s***ted on it, only for years later saying i shouldve kept making music
Did anyone go thru that?
My parents are very normal w no real interests outside of their jobs and i think that made them excited when it became apparent i was gonna be an arts and music kid instead of an athlete. crazy thing is my parents were and are great athletes but they always supported me taking art classes and submitting stuff to shows etc. theyre awesome.
i do wish my dad pushed me into at least some elementary knowledge about pro sports in general. i got into nba thru my roommates eventually but not knowing anything abt nfl has been a slight detriment to my socialization i think, but not a huge deal
My dad didn’t and when I tell u it saved my life it really did. He was always so understanding and supportive and would constantly defend me from scrutiny i got from adults for not being a certain way
My mom thought I was weird at times and we bumped heads over it a lot from the age of like 13-16 but shes become a lot more open minded over the last few years and doesn’t think I’m weird at all she also was always supportive and loving.

you doing amazing @op
Yes and they are right
They never said it clearly but the subtle way they did is when they start comparing me to someone. Why can't you be more like this person, dress like this person
