Abel did an interview where he said BBTM and Starboy were more like a collection of songs but After Hours was where he really focused on making one whole body of work. He also said this was how he was going to start approaching his albums and tbh you can tell the difference in quality with Kissland and After Hours (both are like a whole body of work) compared to BBTM and Starboy. BBTM and Starboy should also be appreciated because they took him mainstream and i think that was the point of those two albums anyways. So with BBTM and Starboy having served their purpose of making him recognised i think Abel is back to making albums that feel more like one body of work with After Hours. Thoughts?

I just wish it didn't take him this long to realize it

He's 30 now, wish he took this approach 5 years ago

Tbh I have 0 issue with BBTM, aside from the feature tracks that album issa strong 8 for me and generally pretty cohesive

More so wish the Starboy-era was sorted with this approach, he could have streamlined that album so much more, it's really all over the place

All this begs the question though, where tf does Abel go next?

He's gone full-pop, then made an attempt at going back to his roots with some tracks off MDM and a significant portion of tracks on AH

    He can't re-visit 80s synth-wave now either after AH

And those artists are all putting out dogshit. Still holding out for carti as he's pushing boundaries rn but he could easily do a young thug/Lil Uzi/Travis Scott/21 Savage and stop growing to make safe music for safe money

You've gotta understand that Starboy was truthfully just slapped together. He was riding high off the success of BBTM,cancelled his tour with Rihanna and went in and recording that album purely off energy with no regard to cohesion. He just wanted to have fun with it
