I have the OG 3DS and I was wondering if anyone has the New version and if it’s a significant upgrade and worth tracking down

I do although it has advantages and disadvantages

Adv:
Stronger internals/some exclusives
Larger screen
More battery IIRC
C-Stick
Extra shoulder button
Better 3D
Faster download speeds

Dis:
Games look worse on larger screen
Not as comfortable in hand
More $
C-stick is hit or miss

I def think it’s worth it and I could be missing some stuff

Tbh if u wanna upgrade I would make sure to cop an IPS top screen at least (they used different screens on every one)

The only real advantages are being able to play snes games, minecraft, xenoblade chronicles and a fire emblem game. Other than that its the same as having a 3ds
Also you have a smaller second stick

I read that it has better face detection for the 3D. How does that work exactly / is it noticeably better?

For me this was the only difference i noticed

I think there are a few games that can only run on new 3ds but it’s so little compared to the 3ds catalog

You wont use 3d probably so its not something important

The New 2DS XL is the peak design of the 3DS consoles for this reason

I have the New 3DS XL and the New 2DS XL but I let my brother take the former to school and the latter does everything I need

Yeah i agree the new 2ds xl is the best out of all the 3ds family

melz pretty much broke it down

it's not the most insane upgrade, but the new 3ds line definitely has some good quality of life changes. the non xl version allows you to switch out the faceplates of the top and bottom, which is the main reason i copped it back in the day.

but why you still playing 3ds?
