Been considering going for a while now. Want a fresh start and new direction.

Anyone in the service currently or in the past have any thoughts on their experiences?

Was, only for 2 years though, honorable sep, the whole thing was some bull.

Never sign anything without reading it.

Its good to take advantage of mental health services if you need it, but do not trust them like they're your friends. They aren't and have a duty to report. Mental Psyche evals are just tests to make sure you know how to play the game and hold your poise, don't trust them.

If you have to sign anything, read it first.

Don't ask questions. Everyone will always give you the whole "don't be afraid to ask questions" shpill, don't fall for it. Don't be scared to ask questions, but don't ask unless you absolutely have to. Just do what your told, thats what you signed up for.

Don't sign anything until you've read it and understood it.

Don't trust your leadership, don't add your supe online, don't try and rub shoulders with them, keep it strictly professional. If you can ask your peers anything ask them instead of leadership.

Always read everything before you sign it. Learn to read fast, and if waiting to sign it is an option, wait until you can read it, every single time, to the point you are known for not signing anything without reading it first. It sets a good example and keeps you informed of your duties and rights. There is no, "oh this is just a... form". If it wasn't that serious they wouldn't need your contractual signature. If the people behind you gotta wait then oh damn well, they can wait.

And make promoting a priority in your life.

Thanks. Definitely emphasized not to sign nothing without reading it lol.

That's always smart though for sure.

You’re definitely immature enough for them to take advantage of it seems, judging from your responses.

But I can’t say that a few posts are much to go on.

If you’re poor and considering it because they pay for school and give u benefits i have some empathy for you if you feel like you don’t have options

But if you have other options take them

Choosing to join the US military in 2025 is choosing to be on the wrong side of history. The only plausible excuse is complete ignorance/being very young, and to some extent: poverty and desperation
