have not been to the doctor yet but am fairly certain I'm currently dealing with a hernia...for anyone with experience on the matter how bad is the surgery? right now experiencing sharp pains if I sneeze or cough hard and occasionally when I turn my body or bend over to pick something up...likely going to get checked out this weekend if I'm not feeling any better by that point

Depends on where its at and how severe. My dad had a hernia near his groin and the surgery was quick and easy . In and out of the hospital in a few hours and healed in a few weeks with low/mild pain. But my aunt had a hernia near her lungs and that was a lot more complicated to deal with.

the pain is near my groin/abdomen area...hoping I just pulled a muscle or something but from what I've read it seems more consistent with a hernia in that area :/ I appreciate the response

From your description it sounds like a hernia to me as well but I’d take it easy and definitely get checked if you’re able to do so. Hope you feel better OP

it sucks and just started up on Monday...I smoke weed pretty regularly and only thing I can think of is maybe I was coughing a bit too hard because I haven't lifted anything too heavy or stretched in a bad way...but yeah ever since Monday if I cough too hard to sneeze I get this sharp pain...will try to keep everyone posted but I appreciate the response and best wishes :)

update...went to urgent care last week but they weren't really able to do much so have to book an appt now to see someone else and if necessary get a surgery scheduled...however I'm in much less pain than I was last week so not sure if it's possibly going away on its own or what...still gonna get it checked out more though...essentially it's not stuck in place or anything yet where it needs immediate surgery but could get worse over time if not treated
