@OP Get a piece of paper and write down the patients information with whatever date they wanted to reschedule to so somebody else who is more informed in the software you're using can input it.

Best lie to say: "I tried rescheduling earlier but somehow it wouldn't let me, i'm not sure if there is a software issue, go try it for yourself and see." from there watch em as they do it.
