the left wing in general is underrepresented in media and politics
Absolutely, even in leftist-leaning countries this is becoming the case. The Guardian, which was once a leftist publication, has been running smear campaigns against the Corbynites and lowkey endorsing Lib Dems. New media (e.g., Twitter) is slowly fixing the problem
I think the left in America isn't left enough, especially compared to the rest of the developed world. The right is moving further and further right while the Democrats allow them to without any pushback. I think more far left politicians could even everything out to where we can actually see some progress. For example. Obama was supposed to be extremely liberal but after everything is said and done he was very much a centrist and not much ended up being done. We need a group of far left to balance the scales and to fight so that maybe we can have some sort of progress in this country. That's just my opinion.
I am neither pro-choice nor pro-life, I’m pro-compromise for the sake of progress of peace. I know everyone won’t be happy with compromise as you can’t appease everyone, but my goal is to appease the majority.
yes and once again, historically appeasing the majority meant appeasing white people and what directly benefits them
which is why i brought up civil rights prior which you didn’t seem to have a response for
sometimes doing what is, in the moment, the best interest of the few is what is actually right and should be done as such
“compromising” on issues due to what the majority wants no questions asked is not a compromise at all. it’s showing that inch by inch they do not have to change their archaic ideals or opinions just bc the majority of their peers also never got the benefit of a damn wake up call.
if white people got behind civil rights like they got behind the gay and trans movement within such a relatively short period - there may have never been a need for a MLK or Malcom X
which is not even a slight at the LGBT movement. it just goes to show you how quickly things can get done when they directly effect the white majority community as opposed to issues they can completely close themselves off from
I'm not offended, it's just that you people act like this is some sort of revolutionary thing you've come up with when it's really not.
??? No one thinks it’s revolutionary. It’s a known centrist talking point. People still get mad at it though.

When people make a thread asking if ANYONE else feels the same as them, they think their opinion is at least somewhat unique.
Still laughing that dude really said letting states decide if gays should be able to get married is his “middle of the road” opinion

well everyone knows all the gays live in california
“Hey guys I’m a centrist states should decide whether people have human rights or not” 💀

Or it’s just compromise because forcing them to change their opinions is going to do nothing but strengthen their resolve and cause a double down. Compromise is always the better route

What is a middle ground policy on gay marriage and climate change
What is a middle ground policy on gay marriage and climate change
Gay marriage is already legal so that’s irrelevant
And more than majority believe we should do something about climate change so we don’t need compromise on that we need action.
The compromise I’m talking of is on CURRENT issues that involve two opposing parties that hold a large share of support.
What is a middle ground policy on gay marriage and climate change
Complete indifference.
Something being legal doesn’t make it irrelevant. Plenty on the right would love to ban it. Don’t avoid a simple question.
Climate change is literally an ongoing current issue that has two very strong opposing sides.
What is a middle of the road policy on gay marriage & climate change?
Amazing how when u ask a centrist for a middle ground policy they can’t actually give u one
Or it’s just compromise because forcing them to change their opinions is going to do nothing but strengthen their resolve and cause a double down. Compromise is always the better route
no one is FORCING anyone to change their opinions lmao that’s the entire point, these people are unwilling to compromise on their positions and they force you to compromise over what is right, in turn letting “the majority” retain power even longer and let nothing really be done in the mean time
compromising with the status quo is as good as giving into it because it shows you don’t care about your ideals as much as those who have held the same ones for hundreds of years
if anyone is forcing others to change their opinions it isn’t tthose who actually want change but have to settle for it little by little

Gay marriage is legal so thats irrelevant huh
Did you know abortion is also legal? Why are you trying to compromise that
the majority thinks we should do something about climate change but “the majority” are trying to reinvigorate dying industries like coal
but yes let’s “appease the majority” and compromise with them by letting them turn national parks into mining grounds
It's true, in any other country the Democratic party would be considered Centre-left maximum

When me and u both roasting someone in a discussion u know they done f***ed up 💀
