Used to get calls like that all the time at my old job and I'd just tell them sorry the owner's not in right now
every single time
eventually just started hanging up I felt really bad tbh bc like they're real people
Same, I feel really bad hanging up on cold callers and telemarketers even when I’m not interested. Ended up doing a 40-minute long phone survey once because I didn’t want to be rude and hang up once I’d started lmao. Was driving home when it started and ended up sitting in my driveway finishing the survey call for a good 20 minutes
Did he have a gigantic football head?
Do you mean binkie from Arthur? First thing I thought of when I read football head lol

tbh I think I did that once too lmao I just didn't have the heart to hang up
this one lady would literally open by saying "hello and please don't hang up" every time
I’ve got a f***ing degree what am I doing here
Bro get out of there I was in a sales job similar back in October. Some sales jobs can be cool. That is definitely not one of them.
I had one at a shopping network and it was the worst job ever. I legit was having some suicidal thoughts and that's just sad. My friends would be like "just quit" they don't understand I couldn't find ANYTHING else.. like I had a degree and couldn't get a job at McDonald's for some reason. Idk indeed.com was f***ing with me or just the economy at the time but Idk how Noone called me back
Anyway. Get out as soon as you can man.
What I eventually did was went to a factory. And now I left that and went into a great job that's in my My field I went to college for.
I'll tell you right now. Factories are not good for a person. They can f*** you up physically and they almost treat people like slaves a bit. And it's sad to see All these people who know for a fact they're gonna die there and work 7 days a week.
And all that s*** is still better than a shopping network sales job or s ahitty cold calling job.
Just find a way out and then keep looking for something jn the field. It may be awhile before you find it but you will eventually find it. When people told me that I was thinking it wasn't gonna happen but it did. It did take like a year though, so don't get too down. Just keep moving until you get more comfortable
got conned into doing that when i was a teenager. left halfway through my first shift and never came back. still got paid for training lmbo
I make cold calls every day

what was your field? i'm in your old situation rn have a degree doing this s***ty on the phone job but not as bad as op's
On a side note, I had 2 jobs that involved door to door sales.
It was painful at first but I got the hang of it.
We used to go to all sorts of different locations across my state, pooling money and sharing cars for gas costs.
Once you get the hang of it, it ain't so bad and you can make a good amount of money once you mastered it. It wasn't really for me though.
Does indeed submit job apps?
I mean you apply through indeed
But honestly it felt like nothing I submitted ever got through
Homie I was a college graduate who couldn't get a call back from McDonald's who was BEGGING people to work there
Next time I'm doing linkd in and Glassdoor

Television production.
So you most likely will have an easier time than me finding a job. Just keep pushing and it may take longer than you wanted but eventually opportunity will pop up.
Worst comes to worst find something outside of your state. Eventually you'll find something. I was getting pretty down because months kept going by but I eventually got one
BTW if anyone here wants to do sales. Do pharmaceutical sales.
It's the only one where I've never heard a bad thing about. Every person I knew that got in just made a s*** ton of money. No joke.
I think the hard part is just getting in there
But yeah, never do sales for a shopping network unless you are literally on the verge of homelessness or want to give yourself a reason to blow your brains out.
The worst people I've ever met in my life call in there.
i worked on a political campaign in college and would just call voters like all day, the amount of people who told me to f*** off was hilarious. i absolutely hated having to do it but also showed me how nice some random people are lol. def would not do it again tho

Thanks man,
My degree is in Business Admin, the problem is I don't know what I want to go into, most people who were with me in the program are doing similar BS jobs, that's half of the problem
i would call to ask for donations or invite them to campaign events, so of the ones that even answered
probably like 40% just didn't really care and either politely said no thanks or listened to my prepared speech and declined
another 30% or so would just hang up as soon as i said i was with a campaign
20% would be straight up d***s and say s*** like "kiss my ass liberal" or "lose my number a******" then hang up
about 10% were genuinely nice and would either offer to volunteer/donate/or just say they supported the guy i was working for but couldn't donate. these were usually old ladies lol
Got out of journalism because my paper made me cold call interviewees all the time. Hated it, never felt supported.

That’s so sad it must be so demoralising being hung up on non stop. Hard not to take that personally even though it’s not their fault. People just treat telemarketers like robots
