She can do whatever she wants, it's her life. But you can't call for revolutionary action and then quit when the going gets tough.

Of course these establishment Dems are going to blame leftists for their own faults. They've done this for decades now. They don't want change. They don't give a s*** about black folk, poor folk, Muslims, whoever. They only care about lining their pockets, winning against the Republicans, and keeping the US an empire. Did she expect anything different?

Folks thought we won when Biden won the presidency. The actual war starts now. And it's not against those Republican dumbasses.

God she needs to grow up

It’s infuriating to see her act like this because she really could be an amazing face of the Democratic Party for a long time

I know she’s smart. She’s very smart. And she would be an amazing president if she grew up and dropped some of these gimmicks

    article in its entirety @plants

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told the New York Times in an interview that she might quit politics, depending on the hostility of her own party towards progressive causes.

"I don't even know if I want to be in politics," she told The Times. "You know, for real, in the first six months of my term, I didn't even know if I was going to run for re-election this year."

The Bronx native said the Democratic party has been hostile to progressive causes, like Medicare for All and the Movement for Black Lives.

"Externally, there's been a ton of support," she said, according to The Times. "But internally, it's been extremely hostile to anything that even smells progressive."

The interview happened Saturday, shortly after major news networks called the election for President-elect Joe Biden. While Biden won the presidency, Democrats down-ticket didn't fare quite as well, with some centrist party leaders blaming progressive messaging for the loss of House seats.

Ocasio-Cortez, who handily beat extremely well-funded opponents, pushed back on that accusation, blaming the losses on deficient digital campaigns and the avoidance of progressive issues. In a tweet, she said some campaigns spent $0 on digital ads the week before the election.

She also told The Times that she wants Democrats to stop looking at progressive causes as the enemy, and that if they don't, "they're just setting up their own obsolescence."

On Twitter, she said ignoring progressive activists deters Black, Brown, and youth organizers who help deliver victories for Democrats.

"I chose to run for re-election because I felt like I had to prove that this is real. That this movement was real. That I wasn't a fluke," Ocasio-Cortez told The Times. "That people really want guaranteed health care and that people really want the Democratic Party to fight for them."

this is eerily similar to the early 2010s tea party

it's also important to note that in 2024 NY and CA are going to be losing EC points while states like TX and FL will be gaining EC points

purple states are probably going to be an even more of a priority because of this. dems might take an even more centrist approach given the circumstances
