I listened to it several times, she just mindlessly copied that Frank Ocean/SZA half rapping flow for the most part. Not impressive. She didn't really SING like she did on Reality Show, there were just a few moments but not quite enough, also the content was redundant and dumbed down..

Bruno on Silk Sonic easily outdoes her. So does Adele on her album.

..that’s just false. It’s not even a matter of opinion/preference

Just because ur ears interpret syncopated rhythmic phrasing as ‘half-rapping’ doesn’t make it true.. and even if you don’t particularly LIKE the staccato/detached flow, it still contains a higher level of vocal prowess/musical skill than anything on silk sonic showed on that album.

SZA not Frank even have the capacity to even phrase melodic lines in that manner, so the whole copying angle ain even grounded in any truth

This is just a SZA song if she had a better voice, call that flow w/e you want but that whole empty babble about d*** on every song is so boring. Most of the songs on the project feel soulless to me.

She did something nice with the hook on this one at least.

Okay you talkin bout content? Okay I feel you on that, but basing this discourse around ‘vocal performance’ SZA sings nothingggg like this. She doesn’t even have the capacity to weave through notes at that speed or accuracy that’s why I was confused when u said ‘sounds like’
If you’re talking about subject matter then yes it does give CTRL vibes at certain points but that has nun to do with the way Jazmine styles her vocals) the delivery is more similar to Beyoncé than it is SZA n Frank and even still it’s on a higher technical/musical level than Silk Sonic which was my original point to begin with..
