bro I came here to hate, but your comment piqued my interest...
for the 4th time in a year, I will once again give a YB project a try...
will report back with honest opinions and not some YB drone like comment like "This album changed my life, YB better"
he wasnt for me for the longest time but i always liked him or some songs at least, then it just clicked a yr or so ago. if you truly think youre interested id suggest starting from the top, go through his discog, its a lot, but can just play through it as you like and skip if something doesnt hit for you. this has all his new albums in full on it, but originally started as my favorite and his best songs to me. it has grown as ive started to appreciate him more. and eventually ill cut the newer ones down to my favorite songs too.
either way, glad youre trying again and looking forward to how you felt about this one.
not big on Carti or know that much about him/his style but i think the influence/aim of this project is def in that direction, but in YB's own style for the most part. Def some songs and adlibs etc that are more Carti too though.
I liked it the first time through but am listening a lot closer this time and like it more for sure

me and my friend were talking about that not long ago, and came to the conclusion there might possibly be a YB bar for literally every situation lmao
hes been on such a tear recently, and its crazy how different every project has been. Starting with Colors, we got classic hard mixtape YB
Da baby collab tape that was on par with his past releases
Slimeto was a collection of his mainstream/ studio album styles
Realer 2 felt like vintage YB on the come up
3800 Degrees was a celebration of NO hip hop
Ma I got a family was maybe the worst he put out this year but still filled with good songs, to me it just didnt feel like a gangsta grillz entry i think
3860 promised collab that turned out pretty well i think, still mostly on par with his other collabs
Lost Files a comp of throwaway songs, most i didnt recognize but im sure a lot of fans have heard snips of these and stuff somewhere
I Rest my Case, basically a rage album/WLR hommage
we got 9/10 albums he said he would put out, that is some insane work ethic, especially with the quality most of these had. The versatility and varied styles and experimenting out of his comfort is wild too, most of it sounded great and still remained his own somehow too.
a bit too much carti influence on some songs to me but i think i’ll let it slide
cool tape
YB needs to get on more varied production. The acoustic guitar/melodic rap that he was on for a long time was just always so boring to me. 2022 saw him finally venturing out of his comfort zone, and this prolly his first project where I'm vibing with the majority of it, thanks to the rage beats.
best rapper out
yeat gone post some s*** like “känt beleev dey rely took dah luh geekers style n flo n ran off…who wudda thought!!”
They got a song together and YB listed him as his top 5 fave rappers rn
