AOTY easy, very avoidable user base, clear rating consensus & interface, unsullied by fantanos poison touch

The Fall Off is a top 30 album on AOTY you'd never see that on rym lol

rym clears database/ui wise but the {overwhelmingly white} community is insufferable, esp the condescending mods that think they're infallible re: making new entries/edits/corrections.

aoty has a lot of work ahead to even compare but at least there you're forced to just focus on the music nstead of feeling compelled to fix every little inaccuracy

This is a roleeplay thread right ? I pick one and pretend its poison. So ill pick rym because it has old school reviews i think. I think aoty is newer. I dont care about new age opinions. I like seeing what the 40-60 year oldds of today thought in 2000

honestly who’s knows not like I sleuth the user sections that frequently to really get into it, but I like how it’s set up, I can just quickly see if there’s new music outside of what I’m already keeping tabs on, ratings are aggregated from publications, & I really don’t even really look at or give a damn about the user album ratings

f*** both but as a music index/database, rym is an AMAZING tool

it just has a very terrible community

Rym tbh u can find a lot of gems in rym and their interface is great aoty is more zoomer central which makes it better for mainstream stuff

i have found hundreds of incredible albums and bands with rym

rym is much more established and lowkey destroys aoty due to their lack of genz userbase being the majority + user lists carrying the site
