I have seen it and you're wrong
Midsommar was a chore
Had a climatic moment spoiled before watching it too
Its a decent film but unravels after the midpoint
In a way they both basically peak early while the mystery is building

I havent seen the apostle but this perfectly describes midsommar imo

Yeah. Its super common in horror films tbf. Once the suspense and mystery is out there its all too easy to devolve into slasher territory
For the record tho I think Midsommar suffers less from this than Apostle and is the superior film

Is the directors cut superior?
if you are looking for something with a similar feeling as the original i recommend Wake In Fright (1971). starts off the same way, outsider enters a strange community and goes from there. its on prime rn (didnt even realize until i checked just now so im gonna rewatch today lol)
