opening my YT homepage and seeing this video must be one of the wildest feelings I had in forever. I fully expected this being some bullshit but apparently** its f***ing true

in some recent interviews Ghost talks about voices in his head, depression, and suicidal tendencies due to heavy weed use back in the mid 90s, during the recording of Only Built 4 Cuban Linx

Ghostface Killah is my favorite rapper ever. he raps like nobody's business. this is motherfucking WILD to hear. I knew he postponed Supreme Clientele due to diabetes treatment, and that Rae was doing mad pushups on PCP while recording 36 chambers, but never that. the wildest thing from the video is that apparently Nutmeg off of SC was recorded to portray the way schizophrenic mind works. idk what to say man ghost is the greatest and its very very sad to hear at the same time

** I dont know s*** about s*** in terms of how schizophrenia works. the conclusion is from how Ghost talks about it in the video present and a YouTubers conclusion which of course should be taken as such. idk if his presumed condition was influenced by d*** use (I would imagine so) or not and I dont know how truthful this connection in the context of ghost's music is. please dont eat at me for not getting this right. if you know more about how this works please share itt

like all this time listening to his rhymes realizing that this collage-like style is totally out there and ghost just thinks on a different level from all these other rappers. and all this time its not his style or some kind of preference but this underlying medical condition that makes him do it. just happy he's been with us for so long and gave us some of the greatest claps in the history of the genre

Thank God I was finally able to put down the devils lettuce I pray he’s doing better. One of my cousins is schizophrenic and was a heavy weed user. Finally came back home and is fully sober now

  • That actually makes a lot of sense

  • while we on the subject, if we treated homocidal ideation the same way we treated suicidal ideation, you'd save 85% of the black race dawg.

the evidence is him literally saying symptoms of Schizophrenia and diabetes being linked with schizophrenia due to it being associated with insulin resistance

  • one of the few times you learn something in one of these video essays tbh.

I got a cousin who was damn near mentally gone because of cannabis induced psychosis which triggered schizophrenia. Bro looks healthy now but a friend's death recently almost sent him over the edge again.

I mean you and I are both making assumptions.

I do have a hot take that every African American in this environment no matter what class is dealing with some spectrum of mental illnesses, some more functional than others

I do think (as someone with a relative in and out of jail that's medically schizophrenic) that yeah, it's most likely undiagnosed schizophrenia but I will agree that he hasn't been diagnosed, it is an opinion piece I think the @op video.

There is still so much stigma in that it aint gangsta to admit you a schizophrenic or bipolar that of course he aint gon say it. But when rappers like Scarface are coming out being transparent about their childhood and early stints in mental health facilities due to suicidal attempts growing up and his own struggles, we do have to consider that a lot of folks with dark faces are silently struggling with these kind of issues that just aren't saying it (as they shouldn't unless they feel ready)

As someone with a bipolar, d*** addicted brother who grew up in the exact environments you’re describing and survived with my mental, I am just not going to mislabel someone who was surrounded by laced d**** who hasn’t been medically diagnosed, whether by choice or circumstance. This whole thing should be handled with care

The only thing we know for fact is he said he was smoking hella weed laced with PCP. That is a recipe for weed induced psychosis
