A few months back for like a day Apple Music changed their Top Songs feature from being the most streamed songs overall to Spotify’s model of showing the currently most popular songs

It went back to normal but I noticed it happen again the other day and it hasn’t switched back yet

Here’s an example with Juice WRLD, no lucid dreams or all girls are the same to be seen anywhere:

I think it’s interesting bc Spotify u can only see top 10 most streamed songs but on here it has every song

its just weird and misleading to me

like drakes top song on AM is best i ever had if i was trying to get into a artist and the top song isnt up to date with their latest big song it might throw me off yk?

always thought the way spotify did it was ass

and display the stream count, cowards!

I think it makes the most sense from a new listener standpoint

If an artist has a song blow up but they already have a bunch of music people will go to their page and see the new song nowhere to be found when realistically it is by far out streaming any of the top songs that just have the most overall streams

I think for legacy acts that have retired overall streams is fine but not for new acts

even as a spotify user i gotta agree

Narratives would change

Apple has never shown numbers even for s*** like Itunes sales. Doubt they would ever show streams since they’d be a lot lower than what spotify has

horrible way to engage with music, I hope they never put that count s*** up on there.

Okay here’s my opinion after some time:

Overall I do like it but they need to show features

I agree with you OP, I do think overall this new sorting makes more sense. For new listeners it was definitely misleading before when whatever current hit an artist had would be buried down the list.
