A documentary about black actors and actresses becoming number on the call sheet and what it meant for their careers.
They got Denzel Washington, Will Smith, Lawrence Fishbourne, Viola Davis, Daniel Kaluuya, and many others.
Gonna update op later ain’t see a thread about it
Just finished watching it. It was pretty good. My main question is: have things really improved THAT much for black actors/actresses?

Haven't watched yet but for sure I mean improvement is improvement even if the scenario isn't great but we it's way more black actors and a actresses in the mainstream of all kinds than even when I was a kid.
You usually had 1-5 famous black men and women then everyone else was black famous
It's also way more diversity in the kinds of black people out there like it's mad famous British black people and as a kid I didn't even know they existed

I think there is definitely a lot more variety but idk there doesn't seem to be an effort from studios besides BET/Tyler Perry to make films tailored for black people made by black people and that seemed to be a thing in the 90s, early 00s.
but I do agree that improvements have been made and there is a great swath of diversity within black actors
Got angry at the trailer because I forgot Dwayne is half black
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
yo Dwayne in this doc is so insane, he's like a politician bro. he doesn't even mention himself being black and he refers to other black actors as just "persons of color"
he's def gonna be gunning for a presidential run at some point

Yeah that's what I mean like an improvement for black actors and actresses isn't necessarily gonna be an improvement for black media.
You might have had more black media but those actors and actresses were just black famous for the most part like A Different World got ratings like Cheers and beat it sometimes but none of that cast crossed over.
Now is maybe a worse time for black media but a better time for black actors and actresses
