Recently applied for at bank teller position at Chase Bank. Really wanna get involved in the financial business because it’ll help me better understand loans, handling money, and whatnot for my real estate business. Gonna give them a call real soon. What’s the best way to approach this job?

ask them how they’ve responded to COVID-19 and racial injustice in America and tell them you’re prepared to walk if they don’t meet your standards

Bank teller jobs are a pretty good entry level job for the field you’re interested in. I’d be honest with them and let them know you want to grow within the company (whether you want to really or not) and that you’re willing to learn. Just need to tell them what they want to hear until you get your foot in the door

insinuate that you've got a heater on you randomly during the interview. it'll show that you've got initiative.

I've working as a teller now, so for the job you need:

    good communication

    • can you break down complex products/services in layman's terms to customers?
    • can you build rapport with customer quickly?
    • are you able to deal with tense situations (e.g. long lines, entitled/rude customers, explaining to customers that they can't do certain things with certain products)
    • smile/keep calm, have a nice friendly tone, talk moderately slow (especially with elderly)

you need to be able to make sure you do the transactions correctly the first time as customers are impatient and no one likes anyone playing around with their money, so consistency is key

being able to persuade someone to join your bank other than someone else's

explain to them that you want to learn how banks work from the ground up, talk about why you want to work specifically at that bank and that particular branch - is it the service, products etc?

Do some research on the company, are they doing anything new?

    • Charity projects
    • Investing in technology
    • How many members do they have
    • How many mortgages have been opened in the past year

Get some figures and use them during the interview

    Good luck

The thing about banking is that it’ll take a while to familiarize yourself with all of the different products offered at banks and customers are not very patient

So it takes time to gain trust with customers as you get to know them more and learn the different products

Just treat the interview like a conversation. If they bring you in for an interview they think you’re good enough for the job they just wanna see what kinda impression you make in person. Good luck to you real estate is a good business to get into
