Maybe it's just me but I'm starting to see directors as more attractive than actors. Like i'd be more excited about Jordan Peel's next film than Leonardo DiCaprio's. I think it's cause alot of movies these days with alist actors are s*** and just seems the actor is doing it cause of the paycheck or just looks like award bait. So I'm not really hyped about an alist actor's next movie cause chances are high it's one of these two options.

Always been that way. With that being said, Peel's not a good choice for this comparison.

Ryan Coogler is a pretty mf if I do say so myself.

Well yeah thats always been the case for me, i know when a certain actor is casted that he’ll probably give a good performance, but that doesn’t mean i will love the film

With certain directors, especially the very idiosyncratic ones with their own distinct style, i know that there’s most likely a certain flavor to their films that i can expect again and again

I disagree. I’d like to hear your logic behind this before I say mine.

Do people watch a movie made by Spielberg, Nolan, Tarantino, Cameron etc... based solely on the actors they cast? Obviously some do, but the majority don't.

Look at Avatar, it became the highest grossing movie oat and it didn't have any big name actors. While that is not always the case, it's a good point in favor of the argument.

Don't get me wrong, a big name actor will sell the movie better, and the director will ask for one if they afford to, but at the end of the day if the overall product is not good the s*** will tank regardless.

Some of them, but vast majority of casuals can only name like less than 5 directors
