The reason colonization happened was the new products and status that it brought. A bit of a “look at me”. European countries wanted to be seen as powerful and wanted those luxury goods. In order to keep the peace the conference of Berlin was formed, but what did it change? Real change for the common people came only after the end of European wars, since it allowed for trade to flourish

African countries like asians came late to build infrastructure in the 1800 like railways for train. There is a reason why some glory kingdomds from late medievil time like the mogul empire, chinese kingoms or the persian empire took very long to compete in a way to europeans. I think it was to abstract for them to build railways and other infrastructure so they left behind

In short it was the triumphal march of capitalism and scientific and technical developments which made europeans rich. Colonialism is a product of these facts and increased the wealth even more (but wasnt the main point like many people think).
