More specifically hot97 and power105? I remember when breakfast club interviews were huge now i rarely even hear about them (or maybe im not paying attention). The charlamagne vs hot97 beef was pretty entertaining too. Now we hear about neither, is the hot97/breakfast club era over?
They’re obsolete
Not completely but yeah, Breakfast Club interviews get clout depending on who the interview is
Radio is irrelevant when it's possible to chart purely from audio and video streams.
It seems like older artists still have that radio promotion mindset once they fall off but younger artists arent really as aggressive with it.
Once they find a way to seamlessly connect streaming apps to cars the way they do with radio stations w/o a need for your phone and bluetooth, Radio will serve no purpose.
That's also why you see so many radio personalities either moving to podcasts or having radio shows on the streaming apps now.
It's not their bread and butter but they are preparing for when s*** hits the fan imo.
I feel like album rollouts changing drastically the last 10 years have hurt hiphop radio stations too. Was always easy for the biggest station in certain markets to secure interviews
