not all the time. I think they're mostly like banks. they give out loans and want a return. but most contracts in music are designed to trap the artist not gonna lie

but it's up to the artists to do good business, because at the end of the day, as soon as your music hits any of these streaming platforms it becomes a product and these labels treat it as such. it's not just art anymore.

if you're gonna work with these entities with huge financial backing you have to learn how to speak their language or else they'll walk all over you.
