The reason im asking is because of the disconnect where some rappers obviously lie about owning cars or jets like bow wow did. But on the other hand joyner in his last interview basically said he made it and I think his net worth is over a million despite not really selling that well based off his overall popularity. Is the whole label stealing money thing overblown or a lot of these artist lying.

Moderately successful rappers that are moderately successful because they have a smaller fanbase that sticks with them are probably doing okay

Rappers that get one or two hits without ever developing a real fanbase probably won't because of lack of touring/shitty deals, unless they're independent or really smart with money

Most of the s*** rappers talk about owning or having is cap

  • Dec 17, 2020

Depends on what you see as moderately successful. I think being able to sell out ~2k capacity venues and consistently selling above 50k first week is moderately successful. If they got a good contract I think they probably make at least a million dollar a year.

    Its called growing up poor

I don’t wanna hear that argument, a lot of it is a toxic mentality in the black community where you gotta have the flashiest s*** to be worth soemthing

But I understand a lot of them did grow up poor but you can’t use that crutch once you start getting money all the time
