Obviously not everyone has enough to spare even $10 a month but considering the gigantic library of music you’re getting access to I think that’s more than enough content for $10, it’s certainly more options than something like Netflix gives you
I guarantee the people complaining about Apple Music not coming with an iPhone don’t even care about the artists getting f***ed over for the percentage that they get from music streams
The music industry literally almost collapsed a little over a decade ago because people didn’t want to buy albums, streaming was literally invented so that artists could get paid while fans didn’t have to buy every single album individually, and even then fans still find a way to complain.
I think the fact that they’re a trillion dollar company is more relevant to the tweets initial argument than anything (even tho I don’t fully agree with them lol)
who gives a f*** about that one person tweeting man
but idk man some of them are
I mean I pay for both Apple Music and Spotify and I still don’t give a f*** about these artists
who gives a f*** about that one person tweeting man
but idk man some of them are
That one person’s tweet got 40k likes so clearly a lot of people agree with them
"They can't just give it to y'all for free"
Bruh the artists are making less than a penny per stream. It might as well be free.
Streaming is here to stay. What artists need to do is adapt instead of complain about the situation. I think more artists should be doing what Kanye is doing (on a smaller scale) with the whole performance thing. Kanye made like $13 M from merch / ticket sales and the album hasn't even dropped yet.
There's an artist called Marlon Craft from NY who has a patreon where he shares exclusive freestyles / content to paying members.
There's artists like Mach Hommy who are selling limited number of $1000 vinyls. Last I checked on his website it's sold out.
Tory Lanez made $1M by turning his album into a NFT.
Look at what Nipsey did. What Jay Z did.
Artists need to innovate. It is up to you as an artist to determine what your art is worth and go out there and force the market to adapt to your worth. Artists need to create communities/fanbases and tap into those said communities and fanbases and reward their most loyal supporters with exclusive content.
Apple could give us Apple Music and use a percentage of their overpriced phones to pay the artists
The industry itself essentially heavily devalued music so its only expected that fans aren't going to value it themselves either.
Those companies should pay the artists then
If an artist says he doesn't "owe a fan" nothing then I don't owe him s*** neither
I can request whatever I want
