In 1969, tickets to Woodstock cost $18 in advance and $24 at the gate. That's $160 and $215 respectively in today's money. About 60% of people who showed up paid nothing because the organisers f***ed up and couldn't build fences/ticket booths in time.
not coachella but back in 2013 i paid like $30 and i got to see Queens of the stone age, crystal castles, porter robinson, Nas and a bunch of other s*** it's crazy how concert prices got out of control
tbh coachella isnt terrible relative to other festivals if u plan ahead. if ur camping ur allowed to go in and out of the festival. If ur not camping eat beforehand and you can bring in small protein bars if they ask about it theyll allow it if you mention a medical condition (diabetic, etc). water is $2 for an aluminum bottle and they have multiple refilling stations
u can easily sneak in alc their security tends to be laxer than outsidelands and ive never had an issue bringing it in to both. splurge on a lemonade or something and u have a mixed drink
def true tho feels like theyre pricing has skyrocketed more than others. weekend 2 always has the better crowds and is less crowded, this year seems to be an outlier. ur usually able to buy tickets for well below face W2
This is why I’ll always push Dreamville Fest as one of J Cole’s crowning achievements. Black centric festival that was relatively affordable in a destination that was abnormal compared to other festivals

More recent example: a ticket to Coachella 2010 (first Coachella without single-day ticket options + similar number of tickets sold to 2026) cost $270, which is about $410 in today's money.
General admission to Coachella 2026 cost around $600, so that's 46% above inflation, without taking into account the growth of the resale market and VIP tickets (which did exist in 2010 but appear to have become more desirable due to enshittification of the regular ticket experience)
whats the not resale cost
doesn’t even matter when bots just grab all the original items to resell for more
oh no the caviar is $100+ !!!
Caviar was relatively cheap and abundant in the USSR. Communism wins again.
