Or is that just a story sold to us when theyre actually here to suck as much money out of civilians pockets and insert it into the governments? Anyone here familiar with the day to day of an officer? How much of your day is dedicated to serving and protecting vs ticketing?
Depends. We need them in certain situations, domestic violence, car accidents, etc
But don’t need them to be overly aggressive and do wild s*** to citizens.
ya the ticket thing sucks but without it cities wouldn't be able to afford them. imagine how much worse it would be if they were paid even less

I agree we do need them but do we need them enough to have a majority of local taxes in most places dedicated to the police force? Maybe its just where im from but the majority of time i see police officers its them sitting in some parking lot or hiding out somewhere waiting to ticket people
In some of their minds sure but in the context of society they're job is to Maintain.
"What do they maintain?" You might ask well thats the status quo of whatever society/government they are employed by.
So to answer your question yes and no really it depends
Also i have no idea if its completely true but ive heard of end of month quotas officers try to reach which is so f***ing suspect
The USA is not a country, it’s a giant company. A company doesn’t have laws, but policies. The POLICE are simply in charge of enforcing those policies to us, the employees.
Police training is about 6 months at the max. They get a badge, gun and the responsibility of enforcing the law after 6 months of training a lot of the time it’s less than that. Then they get a probation period for another couple months. I say that to say no for most of them it’s just a job, it’s for a check. If it was truly about protecting and serving across the board there would be way more hurdles and responsibilities.
