My buddy is into skateboarding and likes 90s grunge music so I always hear him complaining about “posers” who don’t “get” the subculture or even listen to pearl jam for instance or don’t skateboard. To me this sounds like gatekeeping. Yeah it’s cringy that some people will wear Metallica shirts and literally never listen to their music or rock in general but It don’t bother me
My question to you guys is: is there such a thing as being a poser or culture vulture?
Yeah look what posers have done to rap music.
They have such s***ty opinions and don’t even know the history of the genre and stan garbage rappers like Playboi carti
Follow this egirl on Instagram who does the “ig model” thing and she constantly posts pics wearing band shirts and socialist type stuff but I asked her one day about these things to have a conversation about music and she said she posts it cause of the aesthetic and doesn’t actually like those things. This was weird to me but some people start seething when they hear this for some reason

Had me in the first half not gonna lie
That one time in 2015 when every rapper was wearing Metallica shirts and calling themselves rock stars

This is poser s***
Idk why you'd ever seethe over it, but it's embarrassing to see (and hopefully to be) the person pretending to be part of something you don't care about just for public perception

This was the cringiest era OAT
Yeah they tased me in my butthole after I flipped their table and told them I'm not apart of their system

Did you throw your gfs phone on the ground too?
People wanna be cool but dont wanna really dedicate time to actually being a participant so they take the easy way out
your friend is a poser for gatekeeping an era they likely didn’t even experience themselves
also, i think the “don’t wear t shirts or a band” thing is pretty dumb since you can enjoy a band or musician’s aesthetic/art without necessarily getting into their music.
how many bands really care about this? not that many
also it’s just what losers used to use as ammunition to call out girls back then
I feel like posers are still a thing, like for example acting like a skater but cant even at least ride a skateboard
This is what rap concerts are now
Just watching this video my bones shook
