Dude has made an entire career out of lying and grifting, first to “indie rap fans” while being connected to majors from the very start while being performatively independent, then to the leftists of the mid 2010s.
He never meant any of that s*** and also the Run the Jewels videos have extremely questionable and gross choices made in them so idk why conscious people would support them. But I guess it was a different time where edgy s*** from white rappers was still a draw for a lot of people who weren’t into rap. I watch the run the jewels videos and feel like it’s an alternate universe. It’s crazy to me that that’s what white people experience and how they see the world

As long as we can agree he’s a liar I’m fine with that. But he clearly attached himself to two movements in different eras to make his music seem like this important rebellious statement when really it was always endorsed by the state and he is a capitalist.
The idea that these guys were doing this “kill your masters” shtick at Coachella type festivals or whatever and yall were unironically eating it up while participating in peak capitalism is f***ing hilarious and depressing to me. Like what the actual f***
