I’m not in a master’s program, I don’t have to write a thesis for school or anything like that.
But I have an idea for one that seems intriguing to me and part of me wants to do the work and research for it.
My question is if I’m not doing it for school, other than fulfillment I guess if I finish it, would it have any actual benefit? Is it something I could list on a resume? Does it have any actual value?
if it's really good and relevant work then i guess you'd probably make a name for yourself?
Maybe but if it isn't connected to an institution I'm not sure people would take it too seriously. Or maybe they will and steal the content

No it’s not some revolutionary thing tbh.
Just some statistical research that probably hasn’t been done (at least compiled and publicly released)
Why waste it when it could be like 25 life & advice sxn s*** posts
I don’t think Life Sxn would find it interesting in any way, even as a s***post

This is what I’m hearing.
I learned about self publishing but I guess it holds less weight without a respected institution having looked it over.

Yikes
This is statistical a***ysis at least so I will try to keep it completely non-opinion based.

If you're really into it there's no harm, but in terms of tangible benefits there's not really much there. I have some experience in academia and I am yet to hear of anyone doing this. If you do put iton your resume they might ask who supervised this which could be awkward, but also you could explain to them and show you're passionate.
Bro if you have something to say and the platform to say it its your responsibility to say it. Go write a book son

This is kinda what I figured. I have a ton of downtime right now though bc no school/work due to covid so I think I would benefit just in the way spending time on something somewhat worthwhile
I was thinking about contacting a previous professor from university and asking advice once I’ve gotten a couple weeks of work in and I really have my abstract thought out
If it’s stimulating and you enjoy doing it, I don’t see a problem. Could be useful down the road
